Evangelism and Outreach
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. – Matthew 28:19
Members of Christ the King are involved in several areas of Global Missions.
Several of the CTK Women meet at Christ Hall two days of the month for quilting for Lutheran World relief. They also support other projects such as sewing diapers from t-shirts, layettes, pillow-case dresses (Uganda, Tanzania, Mexico and Honduras) and making prayer shawls and prayer quilts for congregation members who are experiencing a long-term illness.
Christ the King supports the missions of the following organizations:
International Students Inc. exists to share Christ's love with international college students
Lutheran World Relief a ministry of US Lutherans serving communities living in poverty overseas. LWR works around the world to end poverty, injustice and human suffering.
PWI emphasizes praying for others, encouraging Christians to pray intentionally, and teaching prayer, especially through the Prayer Schools. Assisting PWI in its worldwide mission is twenty-seven national and international PWI Teams, Chapters, and Branches in Africa , America , Asia , and Europe.
Seeds of Hope is a student sponsorship ministry started in 2002 by Minnesota Lutherans who traveled to El Salvador and wanted to support children living in extreme poverty. Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Chanhassen, MN coordinates the ministry and sends a mission trip to El Salvador each summer to visit sponsored students in their churches and schools. Sponsors support students in K-12 with a donation of $180 for K-9 and $360 for high school students. This money helps families pay for school uniforms, shoes, supplies, and fees. Some sponsors also support university students by paying $1500 per year for tuition and fees. Sponsors are encouraged to write to their students to facilitate an ongoing relationship. These students wouldn’t be able to attend school without our scholarships. In 2015, Seeds of Hope sponsored 340 students, including 35 university students; 12 Christ the King families personally sponsor 21 students, including 5 partial sponsorships of university students.
